The St Anns Allotments, Nottingham, is a very special and unique allotment site. It is the oldest and largest area of Victorian detached town gardens in the world and has recently been listed with a Grade 2* by English Heritage. The site covers 75 acres and sits in the heart of the one of the most deprived inner-city communities in the country.
STAA Ltd was formed in 1998 by a group of allotment holders from the St Anns Allotments set up to protect and improve these historic gardens of St Anns.
We have eight employees and a voluntary Management Committee made up of elected gardeners. Our main roles are:
- the letting of gardens
- working with other organisations to improve and protect the heritage of the site
- providing opportunities for all members of the community to benefit from the site.
STAA also runs an education project on the Community Orchard. It offers activities aimed at local schools and nursery groups, and holds events each month for members of the public, where everyone can get involved.
If you would like to have a look at the site and its heritage, and see some of the education work we are doing, view our gallery pages and the Community Orchard's short film. Or if you want to be involved in our on line discussion group go to our blog
